Ever since I was 12, I was plagued with troublesome skin and an irritated gut. A few short years later, my gut health got worse, I had stomach aches every week, I was so embarrassed by my out-of-control skin, and I ended up exhausted, depressed and riddled with anxiety.
I began having panic attacks at 17 and developed Agoraphobia. I was terrified to leave the house alone, be in large crowds, or sit anywhere other than an ‘aisle’ seat, so I could make a quick escape if needed. As a teenager, life sucked. And I didn’t see an end in sight.
Then, I stumbled into the world of nutrition. Fed up without finding answers to my chronic health issues and determined to change the course of my own health, I studied Nutrition and Dietetics at university and took a deep dive into the fascinating world of how food affects…well…essentially, everything about you.
After years of trial and error, endless research, and helping clients via my previous nutrition clinic, The Body Dietetics, I’ve been able to break free from panic attacks, manage my anxiety, and I no longer have Agoraphobia.
In the process, I’ve come full circle back to what I love most – writing about how to look after your mental health, skin and gut through the most enjoyable way I know – food!
This site is my own personal evidence-based reference for the why, what and how you can ‘battle the blah’ and win. If it’s not tried and tested personally by myself, I’ve backed it up by scientific research so you’ll only find information you can trust. Something I wish existed many years ago!
